Shellece Swafford
Shellece Swafford, Assistant Director, has an extensive background in dance, gymnastics and martial arts; and has studied tribal bellydance intensively since 1999. She is currently assistant director of Troupe Salamat and runs Salamat's programs for children and teens. Shellece has co-taught workshops nationally and internationally, including Tribal Fest in Sebastopol, CA and Belibeya in Mexico. She is currently working to combine her Women's Studies degree with her tribal dance experience to develop a program for young women that explores the body image, self-esteem and sisterhood through dance. She is a mother and lifelong artist who now happily applies her artistry to tribal costuming and she squeezes the rest of life around bellydance.
